Tyler’s Pic of the Day: Happy Birthday!

Tyler's 9th Birthday
Today is Tyler’s ninth birthday! I look back on the years we’ve had together (seven and a half!) and just can’t imagine my life without him. I love him to the moon and back, and feel so lucky to have this four-legged guy in my life.

Here are some pictures of this little crazy nut over the years.
Tyler Collage
Clockwise from top left: with his Frenchie pals, after he got his EU pet passport, celebrating Halloween, being lazy, enjoying the French countryside, learning to be patient, recovering, and showing his sexy self.
Tyler Collage 2
Clockwise from top left: in costume for Halloween 2006, looking stoic despite his inside-out ear, enjoying last minutes of sleep before having to get up for his morning walk, not the best picture but it’s his last walk in Forest Hills before becoming a Parisian expat dog, enjoying the sunshine, and one of Ty’s last walks with his fellow New Yorker dogs before moving to Paris.

The two pics above are from our wedding. Our day was extra-special with Tyler there.

Bon anniversaire, Tyler! xx

The Electric Zapping Machine

The Zapper
Went to physical therapy for my first time and near the end of the session, my ankle got strapped up to some machine that sent small electric currents to help circulation into my joint. I couldn’t imagine just sitting there for 20 minutes doing nothing, so I kept busy with my phone, although I was scared I’d get electrocuted the whole time!

Strapped in.

Strapped in.

Although having this bum ankle is a pain, on the bright side, I’m definitely experiencing some new, interesting adventures in Paris!

Champs-Élysees Christmas Market

After too much partying Saturday night at Steeve’s costume-themed birthday party, Rio and I enjoyed a leisure Sunday morning. But for the evening, we decided to step into daylight and take a stroll to the Champs-Élysees and check out the Christmas Market. One of the bonuses to where we live is the Champs-Élysees is only about a 20 minute walk from our apartment.

DJ at Skating Rink
For some reason the ice skating rink came complete with a DJ and large moving fake animals – everything from orangutans and wolves to penguins and walruses. Ridiculous!

Place de la Concorde
At the end of the Christmas market is Place de la Concorde.

If you’re looking for some little gifts and want to sip some vin chaud, definitely check out the Christmas Market. It’s actually open 7 days a week and ends on January 2.

Wanderlust Paris

There’s a cool Brooklyn Flea-esque outdoor pop-up in Paris right now called Wanderlust. But seriously, “cool outdoor pop-up” probably doesn’t do it enough justice. Not only is it along the Seine (although in the 13th arrondissement), but it also has free workshops & activities like hair tutorials and yoga classes every Saturday, and even turns into an outdoor club at night. In fact, according to T Magazine, the people who came up with the idea are actually behind Parisian night clubs Social Club and Silencio.

Rio and I checked out the “Brunch Bazaar” event there this past Sunday and it was brimming with Brooklyn hipster doppelgängers. We couldn’t decide where the “hipster” look originated – whether it was Brooklyn hipsters imitating French bobos or the other way around. Either way – we definitely were the square ones there!

Check out the Brooklyn doppelgängers working the bar. BTW – those drinks were overpriced – 19 euros for a Heineken and une coupe de champagne!

One of the food stalls at Wanderlust. Next to it, they sold vegetarian tarts. Thank god because I was starving and everything was meat, meat, meat… as usual in France.

Open Wednesdays to Sundays from 12pm to 6pm until October – definitely check it out if you’re in Paris. And the club is open from 6pm to 6am.
