Tomorrow is Chinese New Year – the year of the (water) snake. So Happy Early Chinese New Year!
While Rio will be heading to Greece for work tomorrow (lucky bastard), I’ll be celebrating over dinner with some expat friends. Next Sunday, we’ll probably check out the parade and festivities in Paris’s largest Chinatown in the 13th arrondissement and grab some delicious Chinese food at Délices de Shandong. Here are the two main parades celebrating Chinese New Year in Paris:
Sunday, February 10
2pm – Ceremony and parade beginning in front of Hôtel de Ville
Sunday, February 17
1pm – Largest parade starting from 44 Avenue d’Ivry that’ll include dragon and lion dances, a parade and Chinese folk & traditional dances. It’ll pass through Avenue de Choisy, Place d’Italie, Avenue d’Italie, Rue de Tolbiac, Avenue de Choisy and Boulevard Masséna before returning to Avenue d’Ivry. Here’s a map of the procession.

Besides these two parades, there’s lots of other activities going on in celebration of the New Year. Here are a few links with more information in case you’re interested:
And here’s a link to a video of last year’s Chinese New Year in Paris I found.
